Rev. Sim Conner, Sr.

Sim Conner, Sr. was a community leader and reverend in Limestone County, Texas. He was the son of Alfred Conner (b. 1820 - d. July 14, 1892) and wife, Eliza (nee Walker) Conner (b. bef. 1870). “Uncle Sim” Conner, as he was known, was present for the reading of the Emancipation Proclamation on the Old Governor Stroud Plantation on June 19, 1865.
“Uncle Sim Conner”, as he was known, was united in marriage to Rachel Medlock on January 29, 1883 in Limestone County, Texas. At age 84, Sim was united in marriage to Betsy Aker (b. abt. 1860) on December 12, 1940 after “going together” for a year. Uncle Sim Conner passed away on September 26, 1943 in Limestone County, Texas.
